Sharon Bortolotto, BID, RID
Sharon Bortolotto is the Principal and Founder of BBA Design Consultants, but what makes her tick? While the firm has garnered countless awards and been praised in print for more than 3 decades… What’s the skinny on Sharon?
Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Sharon received her Bachelor of Interior Design (BID) with honors distinction from the University of Manitoba. She spent the years immediately following graduation in Edmonton working with renowned architect Peter Hemmingway, among others. After four years there, Sharon relocated to Vancouver and began to make her mark on the West Coast design community where she also earned the professional designation of Registered Interior Designer (RID)
In 1985, following a year-long sabbatical to study the architecture and design of Europe, Sharon returned to Vancouver to establish her firm, BBA Design Consultants Inc. She remains an avid traveler and when not exploring the art & architecture of Europe, Asia and beyond… She can be found diligently working on her new knitwear collection!
Madeline Eng, DID
Overseeing projects from conception to completion and meeting with clients and consultants are all in a days work for Madeline. Since 1996 she has been ensuring projects meet both their budgets and deadlines.
Madeline looks at creating an interior, utilizing light, form, colour and texture which gives her joy and the satisfaction of a career well-chosen.
The design process intrigues her the most, understanding each project’s needs and unlimited potential.
Traveling is her other passion; to explore and discover the culture, art, architecture, design and people to re-interpreted this essence into a new space. She is always planning her next trip as there are yet so many places to visit and to explore.
Elly Song, RID, DID, LEED AP ID+C
Elly is the most recent addition to BBA. Since completing her diploma at BCIT in 2007, she has been involved in numerous multi-residential projects all over the Lower Mainland. She also obtained her R.I.D status in 2012 and holds LEED AP in ID+C.
Elly credits her background in science as a huge impact on her design skill. She has the technical eyes that see beyond the surfaces of any space and always pays attention to small details that either make or break the design. She also thrives on exploring a good composition of space with well-balanced materials and colours.
On a beautiful sunny day, Elly enjoys a variety of activities such as cycling, camping or tennis, but she can also be equally content working on her jigsaw puzzles or Lego on a rainy day.
Sa Ra Yoo, DID
Returning to BBA in 2020, Sara has come full circle. Being back where her interior design career began, Sara is committed to melding her roots at BBA with her acquired experience.
During the past five years Sara has honed her skills in hospitality design at CHIL Interior Design and her space planning skills in multi family residential design at Henriquez Partners Architects
An avid networker, Sara loves meeting people within and outside the industry, all the while sharing her creative vision. The ability to connect has brought a wealth of relationships and amazing stories.
Sara hopes to visit ski slopes worldwide; the journey began unexpectedly when she fell in love with the beautiful local mountains in her own backyard.
Brigido S. Libut Jr., BA
Since 2006, Brigido has been an intergal member of the BBA team with his strong background in architecture and art. His technical skills in CAD, digital renderings and his ability to resolve complex detail has been, and remains a valuable asset to BBA.
Brigido counts the Pier West project as one of his favourites; the dynamic lobby, grand amenity spaces and iconic architecture were a welcome challenge.
At home, Brigido enjoys painting colour abstracts in both acrylic and oils, carpentry, constructing traditional lanterns and cooking amazing Filipino cuisine.
